Greetings!

Greetings in Christ!

Personally speaking, perhaps one of the most discouraging aspects of sharing the Gospel is knowing full well that many people will reject the message, and yes, even at times reject the messenger…you.

At times, we might think that if we could just be a bit more like Jesus then everyone would believe this life-giving message of the Messiah because we would minister the way He wants us to minister. We would share the exact words they need to hear to be a Christian.

Yet, let me remind you that even Jesus Himself was often “despised and rejected.” In fact, he was rejected so much that He was crucified on a Cross! According to both the Old and New Testaments, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was the plan of God to provide a sinless sacrifice for sin—Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus came into the world to “seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). As Christians, we are on this planet for the purpose of sharing the Good News with other people. And right before He (Jesus) left He said, “As the father sent Me, now I’m sending you.” (John 17:18).

Jesus’ love extended to each and every person He came into contact with, including the two thieves who hung on crosses beside Him. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are both called and empowered to share the Gospel and leave it in the hands of the Lord. We converse; God converts. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit that transforms the heart of a person.

The Gospel still transforms lives and has the power to save!

Probably the most quoted Scripture in the Bible tells us this in John 3:16; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We are told in I Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts set part Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to the reason for the hope that you have.” Are we prepared to give a reason for the hope we have in Christ?

Friends, let’s do our part here on earth in sharing the Gospel and giving a reason for our hope in Jesus Christ!

I love being your pastor!

Sincerely Yours and Completely His,

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY
Death... Then What

Men, join us for Death... Then What Thursday, April 27, at 7:15 a.m. in Pastor Andrews' office.

That we all die is pretty much agreed upon, it's what takes place two seconds later that makes us wonder. Explore this lively and completely relevant topic in Death ... Then What?

Softening death with euphemisms or denying its approach with cosmetic surgery doesn't change the fact it's there -- waiting for us all. Eating healthy, avoiding vices and exercising regularly are all touted as ways to get more mileage from our bodies. And while these practices may increase physical performance, they will not put the skids on our demise. Looking beyond our mortal lives here, man has formulated complex religions, philosophies and ideologies to attempt a glimpse behind the final curtain, dropping on each of us, when we close our eyes in this world for the last time.

Innovative as these systems of thought may be, they offer no solace against the perfect judgment of an omniscient and righteous God. That relief is available only through Jesus' redemptive work on the cross. In Him all the speculations of religious thought and baffling intricacies of philosophical inquiry come crumbling down. As God's creatures -- as sinners -- the end of our days is entirely in His hands. In this fact neither our clever wordplay nor our comedic explanations will do us any good, but only faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Many Christians shy away from the Old Testament or look only at a few well-known passages. Much of the Old Testament seems obscure, and difficult to place into a historical and theological context. The result of such neglect is that much of the richness of the New Testament is lost. This Survey is designed to ease Christians into the Old Testament.

This course is designed to introduce you to the literature, history, and messages of the Old Testament. The Old Testament provides its readers with a history of the people of Israel and a picture of Israel’s relationship with God. Yet, the Old Testament is far more than the story of ancient Israel. This survey is broken into four major sub-categories: Pentateuch, Historical Narratives, the Prophets, and Wisdom Literature. This survey of the Old Testament has as its primary goal the presentation of the Gospel

This is an opportunity to slow down, take your time, and dive deeper into God’s word. May you be convicted, instructed, and refreshed.

Getting started is easy! Just take the below 4 steps.

  1. Send an email to the church office saying you want to sign up at HephathaChurch@Hephatha.net.
  2. Read portions of the Bible weekly.
  3. Check out the handouts and videos at your convenience.
  4. Interact with the other students and talk about what you are learning.

The class will be made available starting Monday, May 1

You will learn that following Jesus and joining God’s family, the Church, go-hand and-hand. You will meet new friends, hear the story of God, the story of our faith, and have the opportunity to hear how you become a vital part of our mission to reach the greater North Orange County Community at Hephatha Lutheran Church.
